As I have noted in the bulletin, there are four Eucharistic Pilgrimages that will all end in Indianapolis, IN for the Eucharistic Convention that is happening July 17-21. These routes originated from the North, South, East, and West, and will thus make a cross of the United States. One of those routes: the Serra Route - named after St. Junipero Serra, the founder of many missions in California - will be coming through our area in Nebraska. Due to unforeseen construction projects on Locust Ave in Grand Island, they have had to make some drastic and last minute changes to the planned route. I am not sure if they have updated this information the Eucharistic Pilgrimage website, but please know that the original plan of inviting any who wanted to join the 12 mile walk from Grand Island to Doniphan is not the case anymore. After Mass at St. Mary's the morning of June 19th, there will a procession around Grand Island, then at 11:30, Bishop Hanefeldt of Grand Island will meet Bishop Conley of Lincoln at the 9-mile bridge for the "transition from the Diocese of Grand Island to Lincoln." Due to very limited parking and limited shoulder space, for safety reasons the decision was made to only have the perpetual pilgrims and Bishops Conley and Hanefeldt at this location and to make the 2.5 mile trek to Doniphan. Any of the lay faithful wanting to join may do so at the entrance of Doniphan, at roughly 1st and Bartelt Ave at or around 12:30 pm. The pilgrimage will make its way through Doniphan arriving at St. Ann's. There will adoration at St. Ann's until 4:30 pm on June 19th, followed by a reception for the pilgrims and attendees hosted by St. Ann's.
